About Specit Consulting
Why We Exist
Most food exporters discover Asian market entry risks after they ship — at the border, in the inspection lab, in a customs rejection letter. We exist to move that discovery earlier: before you commit budget, before you sign with an importer, before your container leaves port.
Kevin Zhao — Founder & Principal Consultant
Started in F&B in 2004, then spent a decade on the import side (2008–2018) — rotating through sales, marketing, brand development, training, and logistics, with sales and marketing at the core — while also running large-volume commodity consulting engagements (2014–2017). Since 2018, has served as China and Asia representative for overseas wineries, distilleries, and food manufacturers. That dual perspective — having been both the importer and the exporter's representative — shapes every Specit engagement.
Based in Shanghai. Walks trade floors from SIAL Paris and Vinexpo to SIAL China and ProWine. Reads GACC rejection data the way others read market reports. Has guided exporters from Italy, France, Australia, New Zealand, Argentina, Poland, and the UK into the Chinese and wider Asian markets.
How We Work
We do not sell access. We sell verified intelligence.
Every tariff rate comes from the latest official schedule — not a database that was last updated two years ago. Every importer profile is built from trade data, financial checks, and on-the-ground references — not a directory listing. Every label review flags the exact line that will fail inspection — not a generic checklist.
When a regulation shifts mid-engagement, we flag it before it reaches your container. When an importer underperforms, we say so — even if we introduced them. When the market moves, we are already there.
Where We Operate
Primary markets: China, Japan, South Korea, Singapore, Thailand, Vietnam, Indonesia, Malaysia, the Philippines, Hong Kong.
Each market has its own regulatory framework, its own import inspection regime, and its own distribution culture. We work in-market with vetted local partners who extend our coverage where needed.
What Our Clients Say
"We had assumed a 12% duty rate. Specit showed us the real landed cost was 28% after VAT and surcharges — before we committed to pricing." — Dairy exporter, EU
"We were about to ship with a label that would have failed at the port. Specit caught it in the review." — Condiment manufacturer, South America
